Donations can be made to the Bristol Record Society’s general funds, most of which are spent on the publication and production of new records volumes in our main series. None of our editors, council members or executive officers receive any fees or payment for their work. However, we do sometimes help to cover costs incurred by our editors (e.g. copyright fees for images used, indexing and photographic expenses) and we pay our professional printers for their publication costs. A small portion of the our funds are also used to cover the costs of hosting our annual general meeting.
Donations can also be made specifically to our Digitisation Initiative. This pays for the cost of works purchased specifically for digitisation (where it has not been possible to acquire a copy by donations), as well as professional scanning / photographic costs. All digitised material is electronically published and made freely available for all on the Internet Archive Bristol Record Society Collection and/or through other free-to-use sites, such as Wikimedia.
We also welcome bequests, which can be made through a codicil to your will.
To donate, please email our Treasurer, Dr Richard Stone (University of Bristol), who will provide details of how to pay by cheque, bank transfer or Direct Debit.
