It is possible to sponsor particular projects you have an interest in – such as the production costs involved in producing a specific new volume or programme of digitisation.
Sponsorship can relate to specific works: e.g. the donation of books for digitisation and/or the costs of professional scanning. To sponsor an individual book we typically ask c.£30-50 to help cover the costs involved. Your sponsorship can be recorded on our website and often can be included as a note on the Internet Archive version of the book. This can include dedications if, for instance, you wish to sponsor the digitisation of a book as a gift or memorial.
It is also possible to sponsor larger projects, such as the Topographical Prints project funded by Anistatia and Jared Brown in 2020 to pay for the cost of photographing eighteenth-century maps and prospects of Bristol at high resolution.
Personal sponsors include: Richard Stone, John Reeks, Madge Dresser, Evan Jones, Graham Thomas, Roger Starr, Brian Orchard, Derek Winterbottom and Alan Hale.
Institutional sponsors include: Redmaids’ High School, Clifton College, the Society of Merchant Venturers, the Bristol Record Society, the Cave Family History Society and the Drapers’ Company.
If you wish to sponsor a project related to our Digitisation Initiative, please contact Dr Evan Jones (University of Bristol), who is our General Editor: Digitisation.
